Prospective Instructors
OLLI Winter 2024 Course Preview
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Sonoma State University is inviting course proposals for the 2024-2025 academic year. We are seeking course proposals in the following subject areas:
- Arts
- Contemporary Issues/Popular Culture
- Food and Wine
- Natural Sciences
- Social and Political History
- World Cultures
- Technology and AI
How Our Selection Process Works
We plan our courses a year in advance. Our curriculum committee meets in the Spring each year and reads through about 100 proposals. From there, the committee selects courses for the following Fall, Winter and Spring. Please keep this in mind when you are submitting. We are now planning Winter 2025 - Fall 2026.
OLLI offers a maximum of 8 six week classes per term, 4 three week classes, and 5 a la carte lectures. We will reach out to you if your proposal is selected.
We are strongly favoring Hy-flex classes as our members love them. Hybrid and flexible, meaning an in person class that is live streamed. This means we are selecting Instructors with the ability to teach on campus. We are networking with the Osher Online program to offer all other zoom classes.
We are especially seeking out classes on AI, Science, Chat GPT, Current events and more!
Please submit your proposal using our online Course Proposal Form
OLLI at SSU Instructor Information:
- OLLI offers four sessions a year. Six week, three week, and single 2 hour (OLLI á la carte) classes are offered during fall, winter, and spring sessions.
- The OLLI Summer session offers short á la carte classes, June through August.
- Compensation is as follows: $2,200 for a six-week class, $1,100 for a three-week class and $350 for à la carte lectures.
- OLLI instructors are to complete required Sonoma State University Human Resources paperwork, including an I-9 form.
- The OLLI Faculty Agreement from SSU Extended Education is emailed to Instructors at least one month before the start of class. The agreement outlines the expectations of instructors teaching for OLLI, which includes class dates and times, the OLLI Course Preview Open House date, instructor pay rate, and if there are any SSU/CSU compliance training requirements.
- OLLI Instructors are asked to participate in the OLLI Course Preview, where each instructor provides a class presentation to OLLI members. The Course Preview is an opportunity to promote the classes offered. If an instructor is unable to attend the Course Preview or lives out of the area, a video presentation can be provided in advance of the event.
